To set or update daily attendance for a past date, use the Daily Attendance page's "Absence Date" menu in combination with a dynamic group that reflects the students who should have attendance updated/created.
"Absence Date" always determines the date on an attendance record you save. So if today you choose a date that's two weeks ago and save a record, that absence will be dated two weeks ago instead of today.
When "Absence Date" is used in combination with a dynamic group selected from the "Student/Group" menu, the date you choose determines the membership of the dynamic group.
For example, if you want any student who has 1-2 class attendance absences to be marked "Tardy" or "Incomplete" for the day, you can easily identify these students when you set up a dynamic group on the Groups page. Naturally, the students in this group will change from day to day; there may be 17 students one day and 23 students another day.
If you want to ensure that kids who had 1-2 class absences on a past date have the right daily attendance code for that date, choose your group and then set the date in the "Absence Date" menu.
In other words, even though you may be taking this action on the 1st of the month, you can still set attendance for, say, the 10th of last month for kids who had 1-2 class absences on the 10th of last month.
Note that you can click the + button on the group selection to expand group membership to individual students. If one student shouldn't be included in your update (due to an excused absence or an otherwise already-updated daily record), you can remove him or her individually.
