There are a few easy ways to confirm your assessment counts toward student grades. Any assessment you can see in Gradebook counts. The Assessments page has a "Counts for Grades" filter. And the Add Assessment page double-checks your assessment configuration to let you know if it counts for grades and, if it doesn't, tells you why not.
Whether you're viewing an assessment page or editing it, look right below the assessment details and "Additional Options" section. If you see a green "Counts for grades!" message, you know that these results are factoring into student grades.
If you see an orange "Doesn't count for grades!" message, you know that something is missing. Click the box to learn more about why the assessment doesn't count.
You'll also see a link that can bring you to the course's methodology setup, in case you want to review or adjust it (assuming a course is selected). If you make adjustments on a separate tab, you can use the "Reload grading methodologies" link to have our system re-check the assessment against your changes. (see above)
Common reasons that an assessment doesn't count for grades include:
- The assessment is not active
- The assessment is not linked to a course
- The assessment does not use standards (if the assessment is part of a course that uses standards-based grading)
- The assessment date is not contained in a grading methodology
- The assessment's "type" (Homework, Quiz, etc.) is not part of the grading methodology
