There are several factors that determine whether or not an assessment counts toward final grades in Schoolrunner. But there is also a quick way to check on all of your assessments to ensure they do (or do not) count. On the Assessments page, use the "Counts for Grades" filter, found toward the bottom of the filter menu.
This filter is defaulted to "All" meaning that, until you change the setting, you may be seeing a mixture of for-grade and not-for-grade assessments. Click "Yes" to narrow down the list of assessments to only those that count toward student grades. This filter looks at if:
- The assessment is active
- The assessment is linked to a course
- The assessment has standards listed on it (if the assessment is part of a course that uses standards-based grading)
- The assessment date is contained in a grading methodology
- The assessment's "type" (Homework, Quiz, etc.) is part of the grading methodology
If any one of these criteria fail, the assessment doesn't count toward student grades. If you want to find all assessments that don't count for grades, set this filter to "No".
This filter is best combined with others to answer questions like:
- Which of my assessments (+ "Staff Member" filter) don't count for grades this quarter (+ "Quarter" filter)?
- Which exams (+ "Assessment Type" filter) in the English department (+ "Department" filter) count?
- Which Algebra I (+ "Course" filter) assessments this week (+ date slider) don't count for grades?
