If your grading system uses grade points, you can see student GPAs on student profile pages or on the student dashboard. Depending on your settings, GPAs can also be shown on student slips and report cards.
The student dashboard allows you to easily view GPAs at the school, grade, homeroom, or student level. Generate a dashboard by choosing a student group and time frame that you're interested in at the top of the page, then look to the far right to see GPA information.
Student pages show GPA in the grades table, in the top row.
Hover over a GPA to see how it was calculated. A window will appear that shows how course grades are linked to grade points, which are multiplied by course credits, and added together and averaged to get the GPA. Hover on any value in the "GPA x Credits" column to see a tooltip that breaks down in more detail which grading scale is used.
Not all students get their GPAs calculated every day. Calculations depend on assessments being entered, assessments being updated, or course grading methodologies changing. This means that a student's GPA can be accurate as of the 9th even if she hasn't had a new calculation since the 1st.
GPA calculations only include those courses which have a grading methodology set up and use a grading scale with grade point values assigned to its levels. If a course isn't set up properly, student results will not be reflected in student GPAs.
Something else to note is that students without any GPA records do not factor into any dashboard numbers. What this means is that if a student doesn't yet have any assessments recorded for him that count toward a course grade, he won't have a GPA value at all. However, if a student has earned a 0.00 GPA due to poor performance on assessments, he will be included in calculations.
Another thing to remember is that the student dashboard depends partly on having homerooms properly configured. In order to take advantage of drop-down menu options like "All 9th Grade Homerooms" or "All Grades", students must be assigned to homerooms with designated grade levels.
The student dashboard displays students not according to their individual grade designation, but by their homeroom assignment. This means that if you have a mixed-grade homeroom designated as 10th grade, all student GPAs in that homeroom will count toward 10th grade numbers regardless of the student makeup in that homeroom.
