Student contact details in Schoolrunner can come from a couple different places. They can be managed directly within Schoolrunner, or they can be synced in from your SIS. You'll find your options for controlling this on the Settings page, within the "SIS Sync" section. Look for the "SIS - Student Contact Sync" setting.
There are three options for this setting. Below are details for each.
Standard Sync
This tells Schoolrunner to use the contacts as configured in your SIS or in Clever, depending on how your data gets into Schoolrunner. For example, contacts in the PowerSchool "Contacts" module will sync into Schoolrunner with this option if your school sends data directly into Schoolrunner. If your school sends data into Schoolrunner via Clever (regardless of your SIS), Schoolrunner will look for contact records according to what is available in Clever.
This is mutually exclusive to the "PowerSchool Student Record Sync" option below, but can be combined with Schoolrunner custom attributes for additional contact records.
PowerSchool Student Record Sync
For schools that send Schoolrunner data directly from PowerSchool only. (I.E. this option is not applicable for PS schools that connect to Schoolrunner via Clever.)
This tells Schoolrunner to use the contact data found on student records in PS. Specifically, these fields are home phone, mother, mother day phone, father, father day phone, emergency contact 1 name, emergency contact 1 number, emergency contact 2 name, and emergency contact 2 number.
This is mutually exclusive to the "Standard Sync" option above, but can be combined with Schoolrunner custom attributes for additional contact records.
Attributes Only
This option will ignore all contact data that is not directly created and managed in Schoolrunner.
In other words, this option will not sync in any contact info from an external source. This is required for schools that don't connect a SIS to Schoolrunner (i.e. schools that use our School Setup feature). This is also a good option if you have limited, or unreliable, access to your SIS due to district restrictions or policies and would rather take things into your own hands directly in Schoolrunner.
