What are "generic details" for behaviors, and how do I use them?

Generic behavior details are high-level tags that apply to individual behaviors. These usually align to your school's core values – Grit, Resiliency, Accountability, etc. They're generic because they can apply to any behavior, regardless of behavior type, group, point/demerit configuration, etc.

Generic details are not required, nor do they count toward any balance or consequence, but when it comes to behavior analysis, they provide lots of high-level context with almost no effort required beyond initial setup.

Find the Generic Behavior Details page via the Configure page. (You need the "Edit Behavior Types" permission for this.)

If you already have generic details set up, you'll see them listed here. It's possible to have multiple sets of these (each with their own list of choices), but for simplicity's sake, it's best to have just one set.

To add a new set of generic details, click the "Add Generic Behavior Details" button in the upper right. To edit existing details, simply click on their name, or use the gear icon to the right.

You'll be able to name your generic details to reflect what you call them at your school (1). You'll also be able to choose whether it should be possible to tag multiple details to a single behavior or whether only one detail can be chosen per behavior record (2). The "Required" toggle (3) determines whether or not it's mandatory to tag a behavior with a detail or not.

Once you've set up generic details, you'll be able to tag your school's values to behaviors as you log them. Or, better yet, set default details on behavior types so that teachers don't have to take any additional action. Once you have data logged in the system, your generic details give you another perspective into your data.
