In Schoolrunner, academic standards are course-specific (though if you set consistent standards across courses, you can cross-analyze them). You can pre-load standards or have teachers create their own for their courses. Begin by clicking Course Standards from the Configure page. Click here to learn how to load the same standards into multiple courses.
Next, select the course to which you want to add standards.
Download the standard template to create your list of standards.
Use this template to create your descriptions and codes for your standards. Note: Values in the "Standard Code" column can have a maximum of 63 characters. The "Parent Standard Code" and "Alternate Code" columns are optional. The "Active" column should have "1" in it unless you no longer want teachers to have access to a particular standard (in which case, set it to "0").
Note: "Parent Standard Code" allows you to create a hierarchy with sub-standards. This allows you to analyze standards at a high level, such as essay writing, in addition to more specific sub-standards such as paragraph transitions and conclusions. More on that here.
If you use another standard program, use "Alternate Code" to track that program’s code as well as the code used by your school. This allows Schoolrunner to link that code into your Schoolrunner code when importing assessments. Drag and drop your completed template back into the Manage Course Standards page.
Once completed, standard descriptions appear when analyzing and importing assessments. When standards are inactive, they don’t show up in dropdown menus, while completing a template, or on progress reports or report cards.
Edit individual standards at any time from the Manage Courses Standards page using the pencil icon. Add a description or change the code if an error was made. A change history is also displayed next to each standard. You can also edit standard in bulk by downloading the template again, making changes to your existing standards, and re-uploading it.
To add a new standard to an existing course, simply download the standard template and add the new standard. You can reorder and alter the template if desired. Once completed, drop it back onto the page. The list of standards will update with any changes you’ve made.
Note: Standards carry over from year to year so they only need to be added into Schoolrunner once. In order to access the standard template you must select the course it aligns with. The template will not appear until a course is selected from the dropdown menu.
