Classroom Teachers | Attendance 101 | 45 Minutes
In Schoolrunner classroom teachers can easily take classroom attendance, setting daily attendance records for their student each day. This can be done via the website as well as the mobile app. This lesson focuses on what you need to share with teachers so that attendance goes smoothly at your school, starting on day 1 of the school year.
Lesson
Introduction (5 minutes) - What is our schools’ policy on taking attendance? What do I do if I forget to take attendance? Why is this important for our school? What are our goals around attendance rates?
Instruction/Trainer Modeling (20 minutes) -
- Navigate to the Class Attendance page
- Demonstrate taking attendance and saving attendance
- Review other information available to teachers on the Class Attendance page
- Review how to switch to Projector Mode and those thresholds for your school (if applicable)
- Navigate to the mobile app as a classroom teacher (be sure to select Sandbox mode under options on the mobile app when logging in)
- Model taking attendance in the sandbox site
Guided Practice (15 minutes) - In Sandbox only
- Take and save attendance
- Edit changes to attendance
- View school-wide and class-specific attendance percentages
Independent Work Time (10 minutes) -
- Reviewing other data and workflow options on the Class Attendance page
