How can I track class attendance for students who need to 'make up' class time?
Using the class attendance page in Schoolrunner is the easiest way to track any day's class attendance for your sections, but sometimes you want to set up a dynamic group to get notified when students meet a certain threshold of absences in your section specifically. Schoolrunner can help! Use the walkthrough below to create a dynamic group and stay on top of your classes' attendance data. Click "Next" and follow the screenshots and directions to begin:
- From the Homepage, click on Analysis
- Click on Groups
- On the left hand side, expand the Academic Filters Tab
- Select the Section that applies to you
- Next, expand the Class Attendance Filters Tab
- For Class Attendance Period, select which term you would like to track
- For Class Attendance Type, select any attendance code you would like to see (absent, tardy, etc.)
- In the Class Absence Count section, change the minimum number to the appropriate number for tracking
- You can see that for the section I selected, this is a student who has 3 or more Unexcused Absences logged for the quarter/semester/etc.
- Once you've added all the necessary filters, click on Save Group
- Name it
- Click Save
- Click on Existing Groups and find the group you have created
- Click the wheel and decide which type of notification you would like to receive
- Click on Share and select any staff members who should also have access to this group (if applicable)
- Click share and your group is ready for tracking!
