Incidents often result in students receiving certain attendance records, such as "OSS" or "ISS". If a student is supposed to have a specific attendance code as the result of an incident, but is marked with a different code, this is considered a violated incident in Schoolrunner.
Note that for Schoolrunner to properly identify violated incidents, the following condition must be true in your Schoolrunner setup:
- You have linked an attendance code, such as "OSS", to an incident consequence, such as "Suspension".
This permits Schoolrunner to automatically create attendance records based on the outcome of an incident. Only by having attendance records linked to a consequence can Schoolrunner determine if an incident is violated.
To find violated incidents, use the "Is Violated" filter on either the Incidents page or on an individual student's "Incidents" tab, on his/her student page.
Once you identify a violated incident, you can update it if need be – for instance, if a student was incorrectly marked as being present in school when really s/he was out of school, in accordance with the incident consequence. Click on the incident type to visit the Incident Report page.
Click on the date (or dates) whose attendance codes are violated, and change the code back to what it should be. Note that only in this specific workflow will you be able to select an attendance type that is linked to an incident consequence; in all other situations, linked attendance codes are not available for you choose since they are reserved for incident consequences.
