How do I add and manage photos?

Student photos show up on the Groups page, on student pages, in student summary windows (upon hovering on a hyperlinked student name throughout the site), in Gradebook, and on the Class Attendance page. They're also seen in the mobile app. Photos are helpful visual cues for users and they enhance the appearance of your Schoolrunner site. Staff member photos show up on staff member pages and in staff member summary windows. Photos can be added individually via the mobile app or via the website. They can also be added in bulk; contact Schoolrunner support for more details on bulk importing photos.

Adding Photos With the Schoolrunner Mobile App

Use the Schoolrunner mobile app to snap photos of your students. When you select a student on your phone or tablet, you'll see a small camera icon by the thumbnail. Tap the camera icon to use your device's camera to snap a photo of the student.

You can snap a photo of yourself by tapping "Profile" on the slideout menu (pictured below) and following the same workflow. You can also choose to upload an existing photo that you have stored on your phone.

Adding Photos in the Schoolrunner Website

To upload individual student or staff photos, navigate to the respective page for that student or staff member. Click on the pencil icon next to the thumbnail image and click the "Choose File" button. You can then select an image from your computer to upload.

Bulk Uploading Photos

It's possible to upload student or staff photos in bulk. You'll need to provide Schoolrunner with student photos that are named according to the student's ID number. 

Guidance for photos:

Please provide us with student photos, ideally in a cloud or zip folder, using the following guidelines:

• correctly (or at least consistently) oriented

• .jpg (or .jpeg)

• the same dimensions

• named according to the student’s ID 

  • If this isn’t possible, we will need a separate spreadsheet that maps student IDs to photo file names

Once you have the file ready, please connect with our Technical Support Team and they will get your photos added to your Schoolrunner site.

Please note: The turnaround time on this is usually 2-3 weeks once we receive the files.

Centering and Resizing Student Photos

If you notice a staff or student photo that's a bit off-center or zoomed in on the wrong area of the image, it's easy to set it straight. In the website, navigate to the staff or student page and look for the pencil icon next to the photo. This allows you to adjust the crop of the photo by dragging the edges of the photo, as shown in the screenshot above.
