**Health Screener is only available on the mobile app. In order to use it, your parents/guardians and students must have active Schoolrunner accounts AND the mobile app. Instructions on how to generate parent portal credentials here**
What is the Health Screener?
The Health Screener is Schoolrunner's way of allowing parents/guardians and students to submit voluntary data about their health on a daily basis. This way staff members will access to data reported by families that can inform decision making, alert for certain symptoms/sickness trends, and generally provide an overview of the student populations health.
What does Health Screener Data look like?
A Health Screener submission is simply a specific behavior selected from a group of behaviors by the parent/student which school has designated as options. Since it is simply a behavior, it function exactly the same as other behaviors; meaning that you can create dynamic groups for students with a specific Health Screener behavior to be seen on the home page or throughout the site, use the analysis page to create charts/pivot tables with trends over time, etc.
Setting up the Health Screener
Configuring Behaviors
Setting up the Health Screener is easy! First, configure the behaviors that your parents and/or students will select from. You can do this by going to Setup->Configure->Behavior Types. Start by creating a "Health Screener" group (your school can name this whatever they like).
Next, create the behavior types you are planning on using. For this example, we will create 3 behaviors allowing parents to tell us if the student will be "in person", "virtual", or "out sick".
You will notice in the example above that "I am sick today" and "I will be virtual today" have details defined. More information on configuring behaviors and details can be found here.
Configuring Settings
After your behaviors are configured, head on over to the settings page Setup->Settings->Student/Parent Access. You will notice that the Health Screener settings are only available at the school level, not district wide. This is intentional and means that if you are a district planning on using this at multiple schools, you will need to set this up for every school.
- Health Screener Users: select who the Health Screener will display for: Parent/guardians AND Students, just parents, or just students.
- Health Screener - Prompt: What question do you want to ask the person filling out the Health Screener?
- Health Screener - Behaviors: Select the behaviors that you want to be the options available to choose.
What Parents/Guardians and Students will see
Once you have the Health Screener configured, your parents and/or students will see a small button on their screener. This button will change colors based on their submissions.
- RED - No submissions yet today
- ORANGE - Some, but not all, students submitted
- GREEN - All students submitted
After clicking into the Health Screener, each student will display in their own card. (If a parent has students at multiple schools, each student's school's settings will be reflected for that student.)
After a parent/student has submitted, the Health Screener is still available for them to see, but it will be disabled.
