Detentions – Denote In-School Suspension (and Other In-School Attendance Codes) on Detention Rosters
Detention rosters currently show whether or not students who owe detention are present in school or not: students listed normally are considered in-school for the date selected, and students who are grayed out, italicized, struck-through and have an absence code beneath their name are not in school that day, according to their daily attendance code.
We understand that some users would find it convenient if students who were marked with an in-school suspension code (ISS) were denoted on this page. This doesn't currently happen because ISS means a student is technically in school that day and theoretically available to serve detention. However, we recognize that some schools don't want kids serving ISS to be penalized for missing detention, which is easy to do without the attendance code clearly listed on the detention roster.
Feedback on the following questions would help us think about this request:
- Do you think including an ISS status on the detention roster would be helpful for your school's users?
- Would other in-school codes (early dismissal, tardy, half-day, etc.) be helpful if displayed here?
- Are there any similar codes/statuses that would be helpful on the detention roster if denoted?
- Other thoughts?
