Translate Schoolrunner With Google Chrome
Schoolrunner doesn't have a built-in translator, but Google Chrome allows you to easily take advantages of Google's translation abilities. This can be handy for students and parents whose first languages aren't English. (Also, Chrome is the browser we recommend using with Schoolrunner in general.)
Here are a couple examples of when it can be helpful to use Google Translate.
- When generating slips to send home with students whose families' first language isn't English (translate after clicking the "Print" link on the Slips page)
- When instructing parents who don't speak English as their first language on how to use Schoolrunner's student/parent portal
Here's how the built-in translation function of Chrome works:
- Right-click anywhere on the page you wish to translate and select "Translate to English"
- Use the translation bar that appears at the top of your page to select the target language
Note that translations may not be perfect, especially when trying to interpret school-specific terminology. However, the additional function that this provides may be a really useful tool for communicating with students and families.
