The Analysis page allows you to view your data and make reports on just about any information entered into Schoolrunner. Start creating your reports by clicking the "Data & Filters" link or the "Create New Report" button.
You'll see a grid of tiles, each of which represents a dataset. Hover over each dataset to get a little more information about it. Some datasets are similar, but with important distinctions. For example, the "Incidents" dataset contains one record per incident, even if two or more students were involved in that single incident. The "Student Incidents" dataset contains one record per student involved in an incident, so if John and Jane were both involved in a single incident, they will have their own individual records in this dataset, as opposed to being grouped into one record for the "Incidents" dataset.
Once you select the dataset you want to analyze, you'll be presented with a filter screen that has report display options and one or more filter sections that relate to your dataset (depending on your dataset choice). Here are your options for the "Assessments" dataset:
And for the "Behaviors" dataset:
All datasets include "Chart Display" options and "Result Filters" options at the minimum. The "Chart Display" options allow you to determine how your data will be broken out and organized. The "Result Filters" will be specific to your dataset and include attributes directly related to behavior records or assessment records, depending on your choice of dataset. Some examples of these filters would be the type of behavior, the location in which a behavior happened, the teacher that created an assessment, etc.
You will also see groupings of student options for many datasets. These are clustered into student filters for things like enrollments and demographics, behavior and detention filters for that day/week, and any custom attributes that you have in your system.
As soon as you've chosen your dataset and all the display and filter options you want, click the "Load Data" button. Note: data will not load on it's own – you must click this button any time you want the Schoolrunner system to process your report!
Choosing "Assessments" as the main data and breaking that out by "Assessment Type" produces the following report, once the "Load Data" button is clicked:
Once you've loaded a report, you can still modify it by clicking the "Dataset & Filters" link (1). Within "Result Filters" (2), filtering for the Math department (3) and quarter two (4), and then hitting the "Load Report" button (5) once again will show you only assessments assigned during the second quarter by the Math department, sorted by type.
Of course, you can also hit the "Cancel" button to remove any changes you made to your filters and go back to your original report.
By experimenting with different sets of data, you'll soon be able to pull up nearly any information that you're interested in. And by configuring the filters, you're able to refine your information to show only the data points that you're interested in and nothing else, making your reports concise and clear.
Get the most out of your reports by using chart options and radio buttons at the top of your chart to rearrange how your data is displayed:
Use the "Pivot Table" tab to mine even more data from your report:
Once you've set up your report, be sure to save it for later use. Once your report it saved, you can also share it with other people that might benefit from it.
